fluorescent pigments

.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Harsha Chemicals P. Ltd. have revolutionized fluorescent pigment industry and application methods of these pigments. Harsha’s QUTONE fluorescent dispersions are made for various applications:

QUTONE and QUTONE NOVA are fluorescent dispersions for application in aqueous media such as for coloration of rubber latex ( to produce rubber bands, rubber gloves & rubber balloons etc.) , textile printing using binder pastes, paper coating using paper binders, water-based paints ,marker pen ink and highlighter ink making ,seed or pesticide coloration for identification etc.

QUTONE CONC. are fluorescent dispersions for use in liquid inks such as flexographic and rotogravure inks , paste inks such as offset inks, lithographic inks (sheetfed or web)Quickset inks and oleo resinous paints. No further grinding of the ink is required after addition of QUTONE CONC. Just stir in QUTONE CONC. without any cooling. The dispersion will blend in beautifully with the uncolored varnish.

All these years fluorescent pastes for printing inks have been made as ink-bases where the manufacturer of fluorescent pigment attempts to assume the role of ink manufacturer also and supplies the fluorescent color in the form of ink or ink concentrate. But the present times are times of specialists where each field has very many nuances. QUTONE CONC. for the first time has segregated ink making from fluorescent color making for inks. QUTONE CONC are only fluorescent color dispersions, they add color to the ink without altering the nature, texture , flow characteristics ,tack ,viscosity or even mileage of the ink.

QUTONE CHIPS: These are fluorescent pellets for use in wax candles and crayons,

QUTONE CHIPS melt before the wax or the plastic melts and spreads into the entire mass thus coloring the material. When used to color wax candles

QUTONE PELLETS: These are fluorescent pigment pellets for coloration of plastics of all kinds such as PVC, polyethylene ,polypropylene etc. Though they look like master batches they are full pigments but in an easily blend able form. The special advantage of these PELLETS is that there is practically no plate-out when we use them.

The power requirement for blending these Fluorescent Pellets is very low

QUTONE NOVA: These are aqueous fluorescent pastes with micron level particle size

QUTONE CONC: These are non aqueous fluorescent pastes with micron level particle size.

QUTONE CHIPS and PELLETS are fluorescent pigment dispersions in low molecular weight carrier.

The Technical data of QUTONE.

Chemical Nature: High Molecular weight fluorescent pigments

Particle Size: 0.5 to 1 Micron Median Value

Eco Friendly:

QUTONE dispersions are free from formaldehyde, lead, chromium, cadmium, tin, mercury and such harmful heavy metals, Free from azo compounds made from banned amines ,free from alkyl phenol ethoxylates (APEO).

Solids Contents: 48 - 55%

Viscosity: 45 Seconds in Ford Cup 4

Strong Stability: Minimum Two years in normal Storage Conditions

Kilo for Kilo QUTONE Fluorescent dispersions are better than fluorescent pigments powder available in the market. This is because of the unique chemical and physical properties.

QUTONE dispersions do not have binders. They need external binder for fixation.

Users: In Textile Industry:

QUTONE NOVA is used in textile industry for printing on knitted and woven fabrics using printing binders or any aqueous polymer ink. QUTONE NOVA can also be used for dyeing of bleached fabrics using dyeing binder.

In Rubber Latex Industry:

QUTONE NOVA dispersions are used directly in rubber latex (raw or centrifuged).

QUTONE NOVA mixes easily with latex. The user saves money on three fronts:

A) pigmentation Cost

B) Stirring time and

C) Cost of wetting agent – since no wetting agent is required.

In Paper Coating:

Flurescent papers are made by coating ordinary paper with coating binder and filler coloured with QUTONE NOVA QUTONE Dispersions are used in formulation of Marker and Highlighter inks and other writing inks.

USAGE CHART FOR QUTONE TYPES

Textile Printing: Qutone Nova - It does not affect the binder or its fastness in any way. Can be used in rotary,semi-automatic or manual printing. Qutone Nova just mixes easily with the binder paste.

Rubber Latex Coloration: Qutone Nova is a great relief for the latex processors ( rubber band makers , rubber glove makers, rubber balloon makers etc.) because it saves them the trouble of mixing in fluorescent powder. No settling occurs and the resultant product is more fluorescent than when powder is used.

Paper Coating: Qutone Nova completely displaces fluorescent powder in coating of paper. The paper binder and fillers are prepared and Qutone Nova is just added in. Even if the mix is kept for several days the color does not separate. The cost of coloration is less

Fluorescent Highlighter / Marker Inks: Qutone Nova is without doubt the color of choice for this purpose. It is compatible with all the highlighter/marker ink formulations giving the best fluorescence. No separation or sediomentation on storage occurs.

Wax Candle Coloration: Qutone Chips are used for fluorescent candle coloration. The paraffin wax is melted and Qutone Chips sre just added. The product becomes a uniform colored melt. There is no need to use any oil for mixing the color as we do when fluorescent powders are used. Thew colored melt is just poured into molds and allowed to cool.

Plastic Coloration: Qutone Pellets are used for coloration of all plastics. All types of plastics from PVC, LDPolyethylene upto Polypropylene and ABS plastics can be colored fluorescent using Qutone Pellets. The use of Qutone Pellets for fluorescent colored plastics saves money,is dust-free and finishes the work quicker.

Ink Coloration: Fluorescent coloration of flexographic inks, rotogravure inks, offset inks and lithographic inks is done effectively by mixing Qutone Conc with the uncolored varnish of the ink. Qutone Conc. Just mixes in without altering any other property of the ink. No grinding is required. The ink is ready for printing.
